Join me, Marina, in this 3-day Kickstart mini-course, where you'll be introduced to the art of creating beautiful, textured, and layered paintings by mixing acrylics with water-based cold wax!
In this mini-course, we’ll paint an abstract flower mini-series. We’ll start by building textures and base layers in a sketchbook or on mixed media paper, then transform these abstract backgrounds into charming flower paintings.
Grab your acrylics, Powerwax*, and texture tools, and let’s have fun making interesting textures! Join me on this creative adventure as we explore the endless possibilities of painting with water-based cold wax and acrylics.
Let’s create beautiful, layered mini-paintings together!
You are warned: it is very addictive!
PLEASE NOTE:
When you enroll, your lessons will arrive exactly 24 hours apart. You can expect a new lesson every 24 hours for the next 3 days
* Powerwax is a water-based cold wax created by Powertex. There are representatives of Powertex in most countries, so feel free to contact me if you need help finding them!
This is the water-based cold wax I use to create the same effects as cold wax with oils. It’s called Powerwax, and it's made by Powertex. Powertex has representatives in most countries, so feel free to contact me at marinatvb@outlook.com if you need help finding one!
This KICKSTART class was an introduction to my deeper course, Cold Wax and Acrylics – The Basics, where you can dive even further into these unique painting methods. In the full course, you’ll gain a better understanding of tools, materials, and techniques to improve your artwork!
This class is packed with techniques, projects, and demos that will keep you busy for months. I hope you'll use it as a reference library that you can return to whenever you want to explore or review different techniques.
🎨 You are hesitant to experiment with layers, fearing I'll mess up and create mud
❣️ You love the look of cold wax medium, but I can’t paint with oils because of the fumes I don’t have the patience to paint with oils because of the drying time
🎨 You find that oils take too long to dry but acrylics dry too fast!
❣️ You are looking for an environmentally friendly mixed media product to create interesting textures and layers
What You’ll Discover:
❣️ You will escape the complexity of oil painting with a more accessible medium like acrylics and achieve the same effects
🎨 You don't have long waits for layers to dry – Water-Based Cold Wax offers a quicker, more dynamic process.
❣️ You will love to experience the joy of mixed media, where every piece you create is a true expression of freedom.
Let's have some fun together over the next 3 days!

I love painting with cold wax, whether it’s with oils or acrylics—the effects are so beautiful and different from other mediums!
I became completely hooked on using cold wax, and it has changed the way I create. I started with oils and cold wax, which gave me the freedom to develop my own style without the limits of traditional oil paint.
But I had many students that asked if cold wax medium would work with acrylics, so I started exploring a new water-based cold wax I found online. This added a whole new dimension to my art, and I slowly fell in love with acrylics too. And since I love to share, I made two new online classes for you!
There are many acrylic mediums that can create texture effects, but each one offers different results. What makes cold wax unique is how it makes your paints beautifully transparent and gives them a soft, matte finish that’s hard to achieve with other acrylic mediums. Mixing cold wax into your paints not only enhances the texture but also adds a distinctive, elegant touch to your artwork.
Powerwax is made by a company called Powertex. They are in Belgium but there are local representatives in many countries. Just google Powertex and your country and they will come up. If you need help, shoot me a message at marinatvb@outlook.com
The only water-based cold wax I have found is made by Powertex and is called Powerwax. Unfortunately I have not found a way to make it myself (like I do with the oil based cold wax medium) There is a Powertex representative in many countries, they have a lot of other fun products too!
This Kickstart mini-course starts as soon as you enrolled in the course. It will be rolled out over the course of 3 days.
