The girl we’ll paint in this class was originally created for a yearlong mixed media program, Make Create Express 2021, where I had the honor of being a guest teacher alongside many amazing artists.
She is painted using water-based cold wax and acrylics. As many of you know, I’ve worked extensively with oils and cold wax, but after receiving many questions from acrylic painters seeking similar effects without the fumes or long drying times, I started to do some research. That’s when I discovered Powerwax!
This incredible medium not only works beautifully with acrylics but also mixes with pigments and other creative materials.

This is the water-based cold wax I use to create the same effects as cold wax with oils. It’s called Powerwax, and it's made by Powertex. Powertex has representatives in most countries, so feel free to contact me at marinatvb@outlook.com if you need help finding one!
