Let's add some shimmer to your portraits and learn how to paint portraits on a golden background
These girls were both projects for a yearlong Mixed Media Class, 'Make Create Express 2021' and 'Soul Gathering 2022' where I was honoured to be a guest teacher among other great artists. For those who haven't taken these classes, I have combined the projects into a mini-class!
Both girls are painted in oils and cold wax medium on a golden acrylic background and made with a limited colour palette. You can paint over an acrylic background with oils and cold wax, just not the other way around!I love working with a limited palette, since you don't have to make decisions about the colour!

GIRLS IN GOLD
Although I usually use a lot of base layers and create an abstract background before I start my portraits or figures, I love to experiment and try out new things. For these projects I only started with an acrylic background before adding the portrait. I worked a lot with a brush which I normally don't do,
and I love the outcome!

I am Marina, your painting guide!
I am passionate about painting representational art in cold wax and oils and I love to share my passion with you!
I became absolute hooked on painting with cold wax medium and it has changed my creative process enormously.
Although we see a lot of abstract painters using the medium, it is absolutely possible to paint representational with the cold wax medium! In my classes you will find theory, exercises and step by step projects that will help you in your cold wax journey, whether you are a starter or an advanced cold wax painter.
I thoroughly enjoy Marina’s style of teaching. She is down to earth and relatable. Her lessons are taught in such a way, that you create your OWN work of art; and not a copy of what she is creating. She makes herself available for questions, advice and encouragement. Not only did I learn new tips and techniques; I also gained inspiration and confidence with oils and cold wax medium. I have sold MANY of the pieces I created since taking her course...and several I’m so in love with....they hang in my home...I will not be able to part with them! When do the classes start and finish?
My Online classes are instant access classes, except from the class on portraits, Fabulous Faces (this class opens twice a year). You will be provided with access to all content immediately and can work through the content at your own pace. You can always contact me for help, questions etc. on in the FB Cold Wax Creative Community, on IG or by email!
What level are the classes for?
The classes are suitable for anyone who wants to paint figurative art with oils and cold wax medium. The most important is that you are enjoying the journey. As this technique is new to many of us, I encourage you to play, practise, explore and give yourself time to learn. I am there to guide you in your projects. The class 'Getting Started with Cold Wax Medium' is most suited for starters, in this class I show you all the tools and the techniques with texts and videos.
Is there a community for the classes?
Yes, I encourage you to share all your questions and beautiful work in the private Facebook group "Cold Wax Creative Community". You can also post your work on instagram, using the #coldwaxcreatives
Do I need high speed internet for the classes?
Yes, you will need a good internet connection to view the video content for this course.
What if I am unhappy about the course?
Unfortunately, once you are enrolled in the course I am unable to offer a refund. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions about the course prior to signing up.
How do your online classes work?
The workshops are e-courses, hosted online, and members get an individual, private account to access all their classes. All e-courses (except from Fabulous Faces) are self-study and self-paced. Paid classes have lifetime access (as per our terms of service, "lifetime" means for as long as our business is up and running). The videos are all prerecorded, so you can watch them whenever you want, and as many times as you wish.
How long will the videos be available?
You get lifetime access to the classroom and videos. "Lifetime" technically means for as long as my business is up and running. You can watch the videos within the classroom as many times as you wish. Make sure that your internet connection allows you to smoothly stream high resolution videos online. Refunds will not be made after registration.
